The advancement of science and engineering has improved the quality of life tremendously. Longer life expectancy, lower birth mortality death, growth of capita income and other parameters are among positive contributions of human endeavour to benefit natural resources through engineering and technology. However, the last few decades have also seen the beginning of uncontrollable exploitation of nature leading to an imbalance of human civilisation and natural coexistence.

Despite the ongoing efforts to bring this imbalance back to its equilibrium, large and organised works are always needed. Research as the forefront of the human venture to make their life towards betterment now must be also geared towards a sustaining mutual beneficial relationship between human civilisation with his environment. Advanced Sustainable Engineering is aimed to contribute ideas, thoughts and research in science and engineering that can be potentially applied to and developed for our environmental sustainability.

Therefore not only do we accept the contribution from any discipline in science and engineering but also from multi and cross-disciplinary of engineering with other fields to enrich further our understanding of sustainability for a better life.
